this sounds like an amazing opportunity. Beijing is a really remarkable place, make sure you get a chance to see the sights and sounds of the city. Ho Hai is a fun area to hang out. Also if you have Bank of America, you can use China Construction bank ATM's without getting hit with fees. Go to a place called Silk Street for really cheap clothes, and stuff.
